The McDohl Family

Teo McDohl (IS 415-456)
One of the Six Great Generals of the Scarlet Moon Empire. He served under Barbarossa since the Succession War. During the Succession War, he had a duel with Pahn and defeated him. Since then, Pahn has worked under him. Teo was often sent to the Northern borders with Jowston to keep watch over the Jowston forces, and thus was rarely home in Gregminster. His wife died soon after giving birth to Tir McDohl, and his long-time servant, Gremio, has been taking care of his son ever since.

Teo is powerful and competent, both as a swordsman and a general. He is often referred to as "The General who never loses." He leads the armored cavalry, which is virtually unstoppable. In battle, he commands two Lieutenant Generals: Alen the "Fire General" and Grenseal the "Thunder General." Their loyalty towards Teo is without question. Teo's former subordinate, Ain Gide, is good friend of his and is also the captain of the Capital Defense Force. Shortly before the Gate Rune Wars, Teo was given a sword called "Prakk" from Emperor Barbarossa.

During the Gate Rune Wars, Teo was initially ordered to keep defending the northern borders. However, he was ordered to destroy Rokkaku and then attack the Liberation Army. He lead his Armored Cavalry towards Toran Castle, easily defeating the Liberation Army. However, in their final attack, the Liberation Army used "Fire Spears" and completely annihilated Teo's Armored Cavalry. After the defeat, he challenged Tir, the leader of the resistance, to a duel. He lost. In death, he was content that his son had surpassed his own skill.

Tir McDohl (Hero) (IS 440--)
The son of Teo McDohl. For the purposes of this website, he is known as Tir. He became the leader of the Toran Liberation Army after the death of Odessa Silverberg. Growing up, his father was strict, but Gremio (who took care of him while his father was away) gave him kind guidance. He was taught the art of stick-fighting by Kai when he was young, but when Kai suddenly left, he began training on his own.

When he was young, he was abducted by rogues. Fortunately, Gremio saved him and he has been grateful ever since.

Upon reaching adulthood, Tir was put into the Royal Guards with the blessing of Emperor Barbarossa himself. However, he was put under the cowardly Captain Kraze. Working under Kraze and with Vice-Captain Kanaan showed McDohl the corruption running rampant through the Empire.

When Windy, the court magician, discovers that Ted possesses the Soul Eater, Tir accepted the Soul Eater from him so that he could hide it from Windy. He escapes from Gregminster with the help of Viktor, who introduces him to Odessa. He works with the Liberation Army, learning the hardships of being a leader from Odessa. When she is killed, he escapes from the Land of Arlus into the Gouran Area and finds Mathiu Silverberg, her brother. There, he convinces Mathiu to join the Liberation Army and soon frees Toran Castle from the zombie dragon's curse. He was thrust into the leadership of the Liberation Army when Mathiu recognized his ability to lead people.

Since then, he participated in many battles, losing Gremio, Ted, and Teo (who he killed himself), all because of the curse of the Soul Eater. He was able to bring Gremio back with the power of the 108 Stars of Destiny, but all of the losses have deeply affected him. When the war was over, he was supposed to become the first President of the Toran Republic. However, he left Toran with Gremio, putting Lepant in charge.

Gremio (IS 431--)
A soldier in the Scarlet Moon Army during the Succession Wars, he fought under General Teo. After the war, he became a servant in Teo's household, and eventually became a permanent baby-sitter for Tir. When Tir was still young, he was kidnapped by rogues. Gremio rushed into their hideout and kill them all with his axe, rescuing Tir. He received the scar on his left cheek during that battle. Since then, he has etched the words "I will protect my Master" on his axe.

During the Gate Rune Wars, Gremio acted as Tir's bodyguard and confidant. He accompanied Tir in almost every action the Liberation Army executed. During the operation to rescue Doctor Liukan from Soniere Prison, the squad was trapped in a sealed chamber where General Milich Oppenheimer released his flesh-eating Spores of Agony. Gremio opened the door, allowing everyone else to escape while he stayed behind to keep the door closed, condemning himself to a slow and painful death.

Once the 108 Stars of Destiny were gathered together, however, he was brought back to life through their power and the Gate Rune. After the war, he left Toran with Tir and has been traveling with him ever since.

Ted (IS 140-456)
The owner of the Soul Eater, True Rune of Life and Death, for over 300 years. He was born in the "Village of the Hidden Rune." The village was destroyed by Windy, Yuber, and Neclord. Ted was given the Soul Eater and wound up as the only survivor. Since then, he has wandered the world alone.

During his travels, the Soul Eater was removed once, but after ten years of searching, he reclaimed it.

While the Scarlet Moon Empire was at war with Jowston, General Teo found him wandering a battlefield. Thinking that he was a war orphan, Teo brought him home. Ted soon became good friends with Tir. He had never had a friend in 300 years of wandering, so this was a great comfort. He hid the Soul Eater from the McDohl family by wearing gloves at all times. He explained that his hand was badly burned during the war to escape suspicion. However, when McDohl was sent to defeat the bandits at Mt. Seifu, Ted used the Soul Eater to defeat the Queen Ant. Seeing this, Kanaan informed Windy. Windy summoned Ted to the palace, and there he realized that she was the one who had destroyed his village. He barely escapes the palace, getting severely injured in the process. He gets to the McDohl household and asks Tir to accept the Soul Eater. Tir agrees, allowing Ted to set himself up as a decoy while Tir escapes with the Soul Eater.

After being captured, Windy takes control of his body using the conquer rune. She tried to use him to take the Soul Eater back from Tir, but with his last bit of strength, Ted commanded the Soul Eater to take his own life.

Cleo (IS 430--)
A soldier under the command of General Teo since the Succession Wars. She is highly experienced and never loses her temper in battle. She served under Teo for so long that she became a permanant member of the McDohl household. To Tir, she is like an older sister, and she protects him under all circumstances. She has a talent in magic use, and when McDohl was sent to Magician's Island, Leknaat gave her a fire rune, because she saw that Cleo was a true "protector" of Tir. Since then, she has accompanied Tir on many battles. Although she saw her comrades die in battle, she never shed a tear.

After the war, Cleo retired from military duty and maintains the McDohl household while their various occupants are gone.

Pahn (IS 429--)
A soldier under Geil Rugner during the Succession Wars. He confronted General Teo on the battlefield in a duel, but lost. Afterwards, he swore fealty to Teo and became a member of the McDohl household.

Pahn is a very muscular man, constantly in training. He is a "boar warrior," and overpowers his enemies with brute force. He owns a Boar rune, which allows him to unleash a barraige of powerful strikes.

During the Gate Rune Wars, Pahn was the one who informed Kraze that Ted had returned to the McDohl household after escaping from the palace. Pahn didn't want to bring trouble into the McDohl household and his actions were due to his loyalty to Teo McDohl. However, this action betrayed Tir. Later, Kraze abducts Eileen with Pahn following behind. Kraze orders Pahn to attack Tir, but Pahn realizes his error and instead attacks Kraze. Afterwards, he became a part of the Liberation Army.

When the Liberation Army is defeated by Teo's Armored Cavalry, Pahn stays behind to stop Teo's troops. Teo orders Pahn to stand aside, but instead, Pahn challenges him to a duel. Pahn barely wins, allowing the Liberation Army enough time to prepare the Fire Spears that would later defeat General Teo.

After the war, Pahn goes on a journey to better himself. He returns to Gregminster a few years later when he runs out of money. He remains an avid eater.

Kai (IS 408--)
Only a member of the McDohl household for a few years. He was commissioned by Teo to be Tir's martial arts instructor. He taught Tir how to use the staff as a weapon, and realized his incredible potential. However, after a few years, he suddenly disappeared. After that, McDohl had to continue his training on his own.

Kai suddenly appears again during the Gate Rune Wars. Tir meets him at th Fortress of Garan, and Kai joins with no qualms about the fact that Tir is fighting against the empire. After the war, Kai becomes one of the Six Great Generals of the Toran Republic. He is not assigned to a specific area, but rather to training troops at Gregminster.
